May you have a Christmas and holiday season filled with love and laughter! This hike was called Dry Creek. It is located somewhere in Wyoming. The day we hiked this trail was a travel day for us. We drove a couple hundred miles and we were tired of being in the van. As we drove, we started looking for something to do on our All Trails app and ended up on this mountain ridge. It was a 4 mile round trip. The first mile had a 1,000 ft elevation gain, then flattened out as we walked the ridge. The trail ended abruptly and we opted to bushwhack to the highest point. The sky got dark and ominous towards the end of the hike but we made it back before the rain started. #anothergoodday #hikes #goodhikes #getmeoutofthevan 4-1/2 years of traveling around the country in our van (Alice) and we still enjoy doing it. Unlike those who live full time in a van or RV, we prefer being road trippers with a home base. We like trips that are 4-6 weeks in duration. We equally like having a place to go back to where we enjoy being near family and friends. I guess you could say we’re trying to have it both ways. No situation is perfect, but this arrangement seems to be best for us. The colors of fall surrounded us in the Teton mountains while we were there. This was a long and beautiful hike to Solitude Lake. We even spotted a bear in the distance catching some sunshine on this glorious day! #greathikes #wyoming #grandtetonsnationalpark #fallcolors You know you’re in Wyoming when you’re on a hiking trail and you meet llamas 🤣. These elk hunters took llamas out with them to help pack their elk out of the woods. #smartmove Today’s post is all about critters! On a hike in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, we came upon feral horses and buffalo grazing together. They were gathered on the hiking trail so we were forced to walk off-trail through the grassland to keep a safe distance. Luckily, this was a day I opted to carry a strong telephoto lens with me and I got some interesting pictures. The horses and prairie dogs were taken on the same hike in North Dakota. We spotted the Marmot in Glacier NP and the elk were in central Montana. In addition to these animals we have seen a rattle snake 😝, a mountain lion, black bear, moose, mule deer, pronehorn deer and big horn sheep #critters #animalsofthenorthwest BE GRATEFUL EVERYDAY #gratefulness #blessings #beautifuldestinations #rockiemountains #montana #vanlife #vanlifediaries #homeiswhereyouparkit Our favorite Glacier NP hike was to Grinnell Glacier and Lake. It is located in the Many Glacier east entrance and was just great. The trail is very popular and a bit busier than we like but in general the hike was stellar! #manyglaciers #grinnellglacier #greathikes #Montana #vanlife #homeiswhereyouparkit #liveyourdreams We happened to be in Butte one Friday afternoon. While there, we noticed people blocking streets and Model T cars being parked here and there. We thought they were setting up for a weekend event like a car show or sidewalk fair. So, we decided to walk down to check it out. We quickly learned they were actually filming a movie in the street. The movie will be a sequel to the show Yellowstone called “1923”. It was really fun and interesting to watch it in ACTION!
