Plan Less, Experience More

When it comes to traveling with our van (Alice), our primary objective is to plan less and maximize our freedom and flexibility. We believe in embracing the experience of exploring the world on our own terms. This strategy allows us to value every moment and immerse ourselves in the wonders that each destination has to offer.

With Alice as our traveling home, we embark in adventures that take us off the beaten path. Uncovering hidden gems and breathtaking landscapes that are often missed by the crowds is our favorite thing to do. We love the freedom of not being tied down to rigid schedules. This style of travel allows us to follow road signs, landmarks and points of interest wherever we go.

We often wake surrounded by nature and expirence a slow paced quiet life on the road. Whether it’s waking up to the gentle lapping of waves on a secluded beach or the chirping of birds in a serene forest, each morning brings new beginnings and endless possibilities.

One of the joys of traveling with Alice is the ability to create our own home wherever we go. With her cozy interior and cleverly designed spaces, we have everything we need at our fingertips. Alice provides us with a comfortable bed and a fully equipped kitchen. These essentials allow us to enjoy the simple pleasure of home-cooked meals or a nap on a rainy day.

Our van, Alice, is a 2015 Winnebago ERA Sprinter that we purchased used in 2018. We found it on a website called RV Trader.

But it’s not just about the destinations we visit or the comforts of our mobile home. It’s the people we meet along the way, the stories we share, and the experiences we cherish. Alice helps to open doors for making connections with other and making friendships that will last a lifetime.

Every Area Has Something Unique to Offer

Exploring different destinations, whether it be states, counties, or towns, is a fascinating journey. Each place we visit has its own unique charm and hidden treasures that are waiting to be discovered.

Every state in our nation has its own distinctive attraction. From the rugged coastlines of Maine to the picturesque landscapes of Utah, there is something for everyone. Whether its city life or the tranquility of nature, each state offers its own blend of culture, history, and breathtaking scenery.

But it doesn’t stop there. Within each state, there are counties that boast their own unique offerings. By venturing beyond the popular attractions, we try to find hidden gems that truly make a place special.

In our opinion, the charm of America’s small towns is the best. These communities interest us most with their quaint architecture, friendly locals, and a slower pace of life. Exploring these charming villages allows us to include ourselves in the local culture, taste local foods, and appreciate the simpler joys of life.

Plan Less, Experience More

So, if you’re ready to embark on a journey of freedom, flexibility, and unforgettable memories, consider joining us on the road. Let the open road be your guide as you embark on an adventure like no other. And remember, it’s not just about the destination, but the journey itself that truly matters. Remember, sometimes, planning less means experiencing more.

  1. I just downloaded RV Parky. Thank you for the recommendation! I’m excited to play around with the app.

I like to read and do research about my destinations, too. I figure it is nice to have an idea of what the possibilities are of a new place. I agree it is also good to be spontaneous and open to the things you encounter while traveling that you didn’t find in your research. It sounds like you and your wife are on the same page in this regard which makes for good travels together. 🙂

The kitchen in your van is beautiful and looks highly functional as well.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the information. It’s important to make sure to secure a site at your primary place so you can maximize the experience while there. It is also true that the adventure of figuring it out as you go is equally fun. We talk to the locals a lot along the way and they help to point us in the right direction. Gail and I have discovered a new layer in our relationship when we meander through an area. It’s hard to explain but it truly brings us joy.

Our kitchen and general living quarters in the van works for us. It’s only big enough for two but is big enough for us.

  2. I love to travel with a general idea of where we would like to go, and what we would like to see, but prefer not have reservations for overnight stays, as we have found some great camping spots this way, many of them off the beaten path.

Your feedback is welcome!
